Learning Musical Instruments versus Playing with Musical Implements
—-
Learning music is not dependent on formal instrument playing. Some children are ready for this (and I can explain later on about how to evaluate that), but for many children, "playing" with musical implements builds just a strong a foundation-- probably even more than if they jumped to formal instruction at an early age.
I like this video because it allows me to highlight what matters from a #playbased perspective:
1. INHIBITORY CONTROL - The ability to self-regulate actions is vital to formal playing, so it’s worth taking the time to build this habit. “Rest-Ready-Play!” Playing builds the skill of self-control.
2. BEAT COMPETENCY - The ability to maintain a consistent, steady beat is essential. By understanding the fundamental base of music, the child is building capacity for more diverse rhythm. Being able to do this also supports “number sense” -- as children need to count through this exercise.
3. FOLLOWING MUSICAL DYNAMICS - Using rhythm sticks allows simplicity in practicing musical dynamics-- loud, quiet, fast, slow. The immediate audible feedback from the exercise allows children to gauge the sound they produce, as well as become in control of the dynamics they play.
Last, but not least— being able to use simple exercises allows both learner and teacher to enjoy the process of music making and collaboration. The capacity to listen to others is a life-long skill.

I want to share this video in order to demystify the myth that early formal instruction is necessary. For some, it’s achievable; For others, it isn’t yet... and that’s OK!
What is essential is the understanding of the skills you want to build, and inspiring that joy for learning.

Dear Mr. Pochang,
Thank you very much for sharing so many good songs. Apart from your band, Echo, I already like due to the easy-to-dance-to vibe, I liked all of the music you sent, especially Flesh Juicer 血肉果汁機 as it brought me to my younger days when I listened to a lot of Pantera; 皇后皮箱QueenSuitcase as it has a very interesting sound, bringing back 60's-70's surf music with a neo-psychedelic feel to it; I totally love the beats, sounds, rapping voice and lyrical rhythm of LEO37; 八十八顆芭樂籽 88balaz reminds me of a band called Silversun Pickups due to the simple yet powerful delivery; and 微光群島 Shimmering Islands with nicely arranged music and sounds.
Thank you very much again for sharing and hope to converse with you again soon.

Violin cover by Lin Tzu An of Maria(마리아) from HWASA (화사)

The game rules of our living world really suck, right?
Pain in life tortures us, and those terribly shitty matters keep hitting on our faces.
There are the dark sides and the fighting backs behind the cheerful rhythm of this song.
Hope everyone can see how meaningful the song is and how talented HwaSa changed her mind to deal with the struggles .
It seems to conflicting while we choose to be good and nice, there are always someone throwing shit on us or pushing us into the the water. Remember that you will not drown if being pushed into the water, neither the shit kills you. Doing nothing at all will.
So even we cannot change the lame rules of the society and we cannot stop those haters, we just focus on ourselves.
Accept yourself as you are and being whoever you truly are is the way to shine.
Yes, you are enough! You are imperfect and vulnerable and sometimes afraid, but that does not change the truth that you are also brace and worthy of love in the world❤️
