原來5G網路要八年以上才能開始賺錢（例如台灣4G是2014年開始營運，但5G以後還是很多人會繼續用4G，使用年限會超過八年），所以法國限制現有華為設備的授權年限，也就是新的設備禁用華為、已有的設備大部分拿到三年或五年授權，這會使營運商賠錢，而且因為5G和4G有相連問題，到時候兩個網路都要改，賠更多，現在兩家營運商說要申請國賠。
所以那些說法國打假球的可以出來打球了顆顆。法國最大的營運商是用易利信。

《路透社》指出，三名知情人士透露，法國將逐步把華為從市場中淘汰，法國網路安全機構 (ANSSI) 本月表示，允許營運商使用3到8年許可下的設備，包括華為；但ANSSI補充說，會勸電信公司不要使用這家中國公司的設備。
華為設備的授權大部分是3年或5年，而歐洲競爭對手易立信 (Telefonaktiebolaget L.M. Ericsson) 或諾基亞 (Nokia Abp) 的設備授權大部分都獲得了8年許可證。
一位消息人士向《路透社》表示，鑑於5G等新的移動技術至少需要8年才能獲得投資回報，電信運營商很難冒險投資華為的設備。
而一旦禁令正式下達，受到最大衝擊的將會是Bouygues Telecom和Altice Europe這兩家公司，他們目前就是使用華為的設備，但5G網路設備的新授權與現有4G設備相關聯，這意味著，如果運營商選擇其他5G供應商，也將不得不替換其現有4G基礎設施。
兩家公司今年已經多次表示，這種情況可能迫使他們以高昂的代價更換設備，屆時，它們將會要求國賠。；至於法國第一大電信公司Orange及另一個主要營運商Iliad都選用易立信或諾基亞。
