I've been meaning to update the blog on this recent food discovery -- just a week before I popped. Jien and I have been on the lookout for a good Melaka Nyonya Laksa as we both feel Baba Low has its hits and misses.
And we found a rather solid option at Babaloft, on top of some pretty kick-ass ayam cili garam (better than my MIL's!). 🤭

Just when you thought you've tried it all and.....Booom! They serve a Nasi Lemak Bakar!! In English, I would call this a Hot Plate Nasi Lemak, and this was tried in the city of #Tawau in #Sabah, Borneo Malaysia during one of my. Many trips here.
What I couldn't comprehend was how they managed to be so creative in presenting an age old local Malaysian food dish. But again, points are given for creativity in this.
The taste? Well, the sambal was pan hot, and rice was burnt a little at the bottom. Overall, it was spicy (level 7), and had a decent taste. Meaning they didn't ruin the dish.
The next time you visit Tawau, do keep a lookout for this dish. It was found in the city center at a coffee cafe, which I can't remember. But do ask the locals there. .
