[出遊。旅人手札] 關於一條叫做Zzyzx的路
Zzyzx，這個奇怪的英文路名，你讀出來了嗎？
這條位於州際15號公路上、LA 與 Las Vegas 兩大城市之間的怪路，相信很多人都曾經路過，而且當下除了發出“吱吱吱”聲之外，一時之間根本無法發音，即使是美國人也一樣。
美國住了二十多年，這條路也經過不下百次，好奇寶寶如我，一定要來做點功課加探訪一番，畢竟旅遊的目的也不只有吃吃喝喝，對吧～
無論是讀作Z.eye.zi.ks 或是 Zi.zi.ks，其實都沒錯，因為這原本就是四零年到七零年間美國史上最大的騙局，花非花、霧非霧、字亦非字，也無絕對的唸法。
這一切都要從 Curtis Howe Springer，這個於1896年生於奧克拉荷馬州、於全國各地謊稱醫生、醫學院創辦人、醫學博士，實為賣野藥的大騙子開始說起。他是Zzyzx Mineral Springs Spa 的創始人，於1944年在南加州靠近內華達州的Mojave沙漠中建立Zzyzx泉水自然療法中心，謊稱當地泉水有醫療功效可治百病，並於上百家電台廣播宣傳販售謊稱具療效的健康茶，當然，泉水不是真的，是用設備加熱的，健康茶更不具備療效。
而這位Springer先生居然還大言不慚的用英文最後三個字母拼湊成 Zzyzx 這個字替此地命名，意喻為“the last word in health”，相等於說此地為“通往健康之路的最終站”，吸引了從各地來的信眾到這個spa渡假養病，讓他在接續的二十幾年中撈夠了鈔票。
最終聯邦政府終於逮到這個驚世駭俗的無敵大騙子，可惜販賣野藥的罪名也不過讓他坐了49天的牢而已。Zzyzx 充公後，現屬加州州立大學Fullerton分校(Cal State Fullerton) 的沙漠地質生態觀察站，沿路沙漠風景很美，而舊時 Zzyzx Mineral Springs Spa遺址仍然部份保留，可以聯絡駐站人員參觀。
P. s. 網路上有些照片顯示北向Zzyzx出口標號為23，實際上是之前路牌印製出錯哦，我這次經過已確認原本遺漏的9被悄悄貼上，因為板子上位置不夠還被歪歪的擠貼在3的後面……… 是說這條路真的可以再烏龍一點啊orz。。。。。
